Tea & Friendship

By: Willow Rutherford-Torlone

My friends and I love to spend time in local cafes enjoying tea. Most of our favourite spots serve Lady Baker's tea. I work for the company, so I may be a bit biased, but there really is nothing like sitting down to enjoy the atmosphere of a busy cafe while you sip on a cup up of your favourite tea and chat about life.

My friends and I are 16, and every single one of us loves tea. We all try to get together at least once a month and it usually involves tea, whether it be at a cafe or just chilling at someone’s home. With yummy flavours like Pina Colada and Organic Citrus Chill, it’s impossible to not love a tall glass of iced tea in the summertime.

I find the fact that most people think that tea is exclusively for older generations upsetting. It excludes younger people from the delicious realm of tea. Luckily tea is such a big thing right now, and everywhere I look more and more people are switching from coffee to tea. It isn't a hard choice to make, with options like Scottish Caramel Puerh, with its dark and bold flavour, and Organic Island Strawberry, which tastes like summer. All my friends who try it are automatically hooked.

As relaxing as it is to curl up with a warm cup of tea and a book, for me tea is best enjoyed with friends. Tea has become so popular today that I think we've come to a place where we should be making new tea ceremonies. Do you have any tea ceremonies that you've created with friends? I would love to hear about them in the comments section below.
